RD47 is an authentic recreation of the tube line amplifiers of the EMI REDD.51 console with a range of modern improvements: an increased gain range allows both clean and fierce analogue saturation, while output trim and release controls give extra command over output level and signal behaviour. This means you can use the plug-in at any stage of the signal flow, whether on mic preamps, send effects or line, monitor and master outputs. The original was used on everything recorded in Abbey Road’s Studio Two from 1964 to 1968 – just listen to the raw guitar tone of The Beatles’ “Revolution”. Today, RD47 is equally impressive when tracking vocals or aggressive rock guitars.
