Blonder Tongue Audio Baton is a faithful emulation of a rare all-tube graphic equaliser from 1959, bringing its signature musical sound into the 21st century.

In sound, the Audio Baton compares favourably with the other great equalisers of its era – think of a cross between the rare Altec 9073A “Motown” graphic EQ and the famed Pultec tube-amplified make-up gain stage. Seven separate amplifiers are tuned to distinct frequencies, followed by high- and low-pass filters running in parallel with their own level controls; the frequencies correspond to notes and octaves on the piano keyboard, and the response curve is drawn over coloured stripes as you turn the controls. Antelope’s only addition is a Magic Eye peak meter in the upper right corner that suits the late-1950s look. Launched in 1959, the unit found its way into both recording studios and audiophile setups.
