COMP-4K-BUS is regarded as the gold standard of mix bus compression: originally found on the master bus of an iconic series of 1980s British consoles, it brings instruments and performances from various sources together into one larger-than-life, cohesive whole.

Put COMP-4K-BUS on your master track and mix right into it, or use it once everything else in the mix is said and done – either way, it glues the mix into a balanced, homogeneous production with that much-desired vintage punch. The original design was born as a modified dbx 161 in the centre sections of those early British consoles; Antelope modelled a unit from one of these consoles and also included the Auto Fade feature with an adjustable rate in seconds, found only on the original centre sections. For modern productions, a sweepable sidechain filter keeps sub-low frequencies from triggering the compressor and over-compressing the mix. The Mix knob blends the compressed and unprocessed signals, so you can also use it for New York-style parallel compression.
