Gyratec XIV is a passive stereo tube EQ inspired by the legendary Pultec design, whose extended frequency controls make it suitable for mastering and surgical equalisation alike.

The Gyraf Audio hardware original uses the same parallel filter topology as its Pultec predecessor: its G14 filter design switches a set of inductors and capacitors in and out of the circuit, combined with a tube-based make-up gain and output stage. Five bands, each with 11 switchable frequencies, variable Q and a cut/bypass/boost switch, give you 55 frequencies to choose from. The variable Q behaves in a special way: when a band is set to boost, the Q is rather wide, but when set to cut, the filter becomes much narrower and more aggressive, approaching a notch at extreme settings – making Gyratec XIV both a powerful mastering EQ and a precise surgical tool. On stereo sources the circuit subtly widens the stereo image, and an extra mono mode makes it suitable for any source.
