Opto 2A models the tube optical compressor first introduced in broadcast and recording studios in the 1960s, valued ever since for its exceptionally warm sound and delicate compression.

With only Gain and Peak Reduction knobs, Opto 2A is exceedingly simple to control, and a switch turns the compressor into a limiter. At its heart is the T4 optical attenuator, whose two-stage release gives it its smooth, musical compression, or a warm analogue drive when pushed harder. Designed for broadcast, it shines especially on vocals, for example on the monitor chain of a singer or voice-over artist, and it is also a great choice for compressing or limiting bass lines. The compression ratio varies with the input signal, and the release responds to the length and strength of the source.
