Impresser is modelled on one of the most flexible, powerful and edgy compressors in the audio world, combining classic vintage compression with a wider range of control options.

Impresser can add gentle, warm compression or aggressively pump up any source, and its harmonic distortion section delivers subtle, tube-quality distortion and can even replace a tape saturator, with or without compression. At 1:1 it applies no gain reduction and acts as a pure harmonic enhancer, the 10:1 Opto ratio delivers smooth optical compression, the Nuke ratio can turn a small garage into a giant pumping grunge room, and UK Mode pushes attack and release into pure aggression, evoking classic limiter circuitry driven to extremes. High- and band-pass sidechain filters with adjustable frequency define exactly where Impresser works, in mono or stereo. The original hardware was designed in the early 1990s and combined smooth opto-style compression, fast and aggressive FET-like compression and saturation with 2nd and 3rd order harmonics in one unit.
