A virtual upright piano based on a Baldwin Monarch built in Chicago in 1927, with a gritty, intimate vintage character.

This 48-inch upright is neither a concert grand nor a honky-tonk piano, but an instrument with plenty of character that still has all its original parts and strings. The low end is tubby and dark, the midrange warm and cosy, and the top end resonant and clear with the growly overtones of old strings. It was recorded in a large, open living room with five stereo microphone positions that give the listener a real sense of being in the room with the piano. All keys were sampled, complemented by true release samples, resonance samples, pedal noise and sustain control.
