A detailed emulation of the 1978 Roland Jupiter-4, modelled on the original unit of Greg Hawkes of The Cars and expanded with 16 voices, velocity sensitivity, MPE and a tape echo.

Mercury-4 recreates the Jupiter-4’s bold, quirky analogue oscillators with sub oscillator, its dual filters and easily overdriven VCA section, as well as its distinctive arpeggiator and both unison modes. A drift control dials in just the right amount of vintage character, the stereo BBD ensemble effect is carefully modelled, and a tape echo with multiple reverb modes delivers the warm tone and subtle speed variations of classic tape echo units. Where the original offered just four voices and limited patch storage, Mercury-4 provides up to 16 voices, unlimited preset storage, velocity sensitivity and MPE support. Over 400 presets are included, among them the Jupiter-4’s front-panel factory presets and 75 presets by sound designer Huston Singletary.
