From the dual “constant-beat” oscillators to the girthy ladder filter, DSP specialist Mark Barton (MRB) has modelled every aspect of the original with exceptional accuracy. The original used Hz/oct oscillator scaling instead of the more conventional volts/oct, which keeps the detuning constant across the keyboard and minimises phase cancellation between the two oscillators – one reason for the beefy sound heard from acts such as Rush, Yes, Genesis, U2 and The Police. Lowdown goes from the fat deep end up to soaring leads and offers over 40 presets, including single-button access to the three factory sounds Bull, Tuba and Bass.
