A virtual synthesizer that combines the sound and features of the fabled GX-1 “Dream Machine” and its renowned descendant, the CS-80, into a powerful hybrid built on Mark Barton’s circuit-modelled DSP.

GX-80 integrates the GX-1’s distinctive feature set into the CS-80 architecture – above all the massive dual-layer architecture that made the GX-1 the equivalent of two CS-80s, here with 16 polyphonic voices per layer. Added to this are the GX-1’s unique waveforms such as the high-passed resonant pulse, the band-passed sawtooth and the octave-up triangle, filter envelope inversion and a reproduction of the GX-1 filter, delivering timbres that even the CS-80 cannot produce. Two patches can sound at once with independently panned ranks, a split keyboard mode and simulated polyphonic aftertouch from a monophonic aftertouch controller expand expressive performance, and over 1,000 presets and studio-grade effects are on board.
