Virtual synthesizer paying tribute to the Wasp, the monophonic digital/analogue hybrid released by British company EDP in 1978 – expanded with polyphony, a multimode filter, an arpeggiator and multi-voice modes.

Yellowjacket recreates the Wasp’s signature buzzy tone – from its quirky oscillators and distinctive filter to its built-in speaker. It adds elements of other EDP instruments, unison and up to 16 voices, an expanded multimode filter and an arpeggiator with probability and humanise controls. The original’s yellow and black keyboard has been extended with diatonic scales, transpose and support for channel and polyphonic aftertouch. Particularly distinctive are the multi-voice modes, inspired by EDP’s system for chaining several synths: three additional “mini synths” vary pitch, pan, filter and envelope per note, from subtle to extreme.
