Virtual synthesizer that recreates the 1978 DS-2 hybrid synthesizer in collaboration with Crumar Instruments – with its gritty “vintage digital” sound and significantly expanded features.

The original DS-2 combined a monophonic synth section with a paraphonic poly section spanning 44 notes; its digitally controlled oscillators produced stair-stepped waveforms with a gritty tone and wild harmonics, while the LFOs, filters, VCA and envelopes were analogue. Cherry Audio recreates this jagged character and expands the synth section with unison, multi voice and 4-, 8- or 16-voice polyphony, while the poly section now plays fully polyphonically with up to 32 notes. A keyboard split mode joins the layer mode, OSC 2 gains a stair-stepped sine wave, and oscillator sync and a third LFO have been added. The LFO mixer, hardwired in the original, now offers six assignable destinations with 33 options each.
