EastWest FAB FOUR - Download

A virtual instrument with guitars, basses, drums, keyboards and amps, inspired by the sound of the Beatles and recorded with the same kind of period instruments and rare EMI studio equipment.

Fab Four was produced by Doug Rogers and engineered by Ken Scott, who worked on five Beatles albums, using Neumann, AKG, Cole and STC microphones, rare EMI REDD and TG12345 desks, Fairchild limiters, modified EMI RS124 Altec compressors and a Studer J-37 tube four-track. Laurence Juber played period guitars and basses such as a Gretsch Firebird, Rickenbacker 360-12, Epiphone Casino, Hofner 500 Bass and Rickenbacker 4001S, with 1960s Fender and Vox amps used for the electric guitars; Denny Seiwell played a rare 1960 Ludwig Downbeat kit, and both were members of Paul McCartney and Wings. The guitars were sampled with up and down strokes, multiple velocities and picking styles, some with chords and effects – such as the “revostortion” sound, created as at EMI by feeding an Epiphone Casino through two EMI REDD 47 preamps in series.
