ICONIC brings together 138 GB of rare vintage synths and keys, with presets inspired by some of the biggest hits in music history.

For ICONIC, EastWest teamed up with Anthony Marinelli, the synth programmer behind Michael Jackson’s Thriller, sampling rare instruments such as the ARP 2600, Minimoog Model D, Oberheim OB-X, Sequential Prophet 5, Yamaha CS-80 and Synclavier II. The interface centres on a pad with four selectable macro effects that modulate several parameters at once, alongside dual modulatable filters, a 16-step arpeggiator, multi-mode portamento and effects to widen, pulse, distort, delay and spatialise the sound – all on a single page. After recording in EastWest Studio 1, the sounds were also sent through analogue tape machines, including a tube Studer J37, for tape saturation and re-amped in Studio 2 with multiple microphone positions.
