An AI-powered dialog intelligibility meter that provides an objective measure of speech clarity for film, television, radio, podcasting and game audio.

After working on a scene for hours or even days and hearing the same dialog hundreds of times, it is hard to predict how a mix will sound to someone hearing it for the first time. DialogCheck combines the Listening Effort technology developed by Fraunhofer IDMT, which uses automatic speech recognition and psychoacoustic modelling and has been validated through systematic listening tests, with a history view inspired by the VisLM loudness meter. Driven by dual AI neural networks and developed alongside Netflix, the plug-in applies no processing to the audio but provides clear data as a signpost, for example for balancing dialog, music and effects or for noise reduction and audio processing decisions. It can also be integrated into pre-production to check that the source audio already reaches the desired clarity.
