The Pancha Vadhyam Kit brings Kerala’s classic five-instrument temple orchestra into the Sonic Atlas sampler as a playable expansion.

Thimila, Maddalam, Idakka, Ilathalam and Kombu are heard at temple festivals and processions across Kerala. Built to start slow and climb, the music combines interlocking hand-drum patterns, shimmering cymbal beds and the singing tone of the Idakka – percussion with real melody in it. The kit was recorded with 12 master temple musicians, first as a whole group, then in duos and as single instruments across every tempo stage; according to the manufacturer, this is the first time the full ensemble has been captured as a playable instrument.
