The Chenda Melam Kit brings the huge temple percussion ensembles of Kerala into the Sonic Atlas sampler as a playable expansion.

At Kerala’s biggest temple festivals, dozens of players lock into a single rhythm. Built around a slow pulse that doubles in speed stage by stage, the kit delivers sharp cutting strikes, dense ensemble unison and an enormous festival climax to modern productions. It was recorded with a 15-piece ensemble of temple percussionists and includes Ilathalam, Kombu and Kuzhal layers. This is the temple form from Temple Drums of India, not the Singari Chenda Melam from the Streets of South India collection.
