Shakuhachi Premier G from Premier Sound Factory’s SAMURAI Classics series is a virtual instrument delivering aggressive and expressive sounds of the traditional Japanese shakuhachi bamboo flute in 96 kHz/24-bit.

Developed under the supervision of renowned shakuhachi player Yukihiko Mitsuka, the new Expressive Whole Tone and Emotional Velocity systems use velocity not merely as volume control but for typical shakuhachi expression – vibrato, breath transitions and blur, and changes in strength and vibration – without complicated MIDI CC control. Three instruments are included, soprano (Isshaku Roku-sun, 48 cm), mezzo-soprano (Isshaku Hachi-sun, 54 cm) and alto (Nishaku San-sun, 69 cm), along with a natural legato mode, switchable condenser and dynamic microphones, an overdrive effect and plenty of FX and breath sounds. You can switch in real time between playing techniques such as Mura-Iki, Yuri (Minyo), Prall, Suri-Age (slide upwards) and Set Phrase with typical professional grace notes, and staccato is available at any time. Five convolution reverbs with impulse responses recorded in a traditional Noh theatre, the same as in Princess Koto KAGUYA, and NKS compatibility round off the instrument.
