True Mid/Side extracts the true phantom centre and the true stereo side signals from a stereo mix so that you can control the left, centre and right channels completely independently.

Traditional mid/side is really sum-and-difference processing: signals panned hard left or right appear in both the mid and side outputs, and the side output is a mono mix of both sides. True Mid/Side instead sends centre-panned signals only to the middle/centre output and hard-panned signals only to the side outputs, on the same side as in the mix, and all outputs are latency compensated, linear phase and directly usable without re-encoding to stereo. Use it to extract centre and side stems from tracks or buses or in inserts and sends while mixing and mastering, with a Spread control setting the depth of the separation. Its “Power Mono” mode creates a mono mix by true power summing (-3 dB pan law) that preserves the balance and ambience of the stereo mix more accurately, for monitoring in mono or exporting high-quality mono tracks for post-production.
