Limited-S is a high-quality de-esser, enhancer and harshness controller for mixing and mastering that tames sibilance in an ultra-smooth, transparent way.

Instead of a traditional and often “slurpy” compressor-type attack/decay detector, an FIR filter calculates the exact envelope of the signal at all times, so there is no need to fuss with attack and decay settings, and with threshold and ratio set properly the de-essing is completely transparent in most cases. As a fixed-threshold de-esser, Limited-S works on peak levels much like a limiter and catches only the loudest, most offensive sibilance peaks, rather than over-compressing leading sibilance (producing lisping) and under-controlling trailing sibilance like tracking de-essers. On stereo tracks it can process the full mix, the mids, the sides or just the left or right channel – for example to de-ess the vocal in a master while leaving the sides untouched – and the High Lift control adds brightness while keeping excessive highs in check. Its sidechain input lets one signal duck the highs of another, for example to keep a vocal clear during cymbal crashes.
