DRP2a mkII is a plug-in emulation of a stereo dynamic range processor built by Rocksonics Professional Audio in the mid-1990s – a versatile compressor, expander and gate with a few extras available only in the plug-in.

Like a Swiss Army knife for dynamics, DRP2a mkII handles compression, expansion, noise gating, limiting, clipping, de-essing, ducking, pumping and more. Multiple layers of programme-dependent RMS level detectors deliver smooth, low-distortion and musical results, and a single Threshold control sets the point at which compression and gating occur, making it extremely quick to set up on guitars, vocals, bass and other sources. It offers the same time constants and controls as the original hardware, including Ratio from 10:1 compression to 1:1.9 expansion, Threshold, Makeup Gain and Release, plus an Expander Gate control with two downward expansion ratios for the soft expander noise gate.
