dB Smooth is a dynamics processor for ultra-smooth compression and expansion whose level detectors are based on FIR filters rather than traditional analogue-style detectors.

The FIR detectors are very precise and exactly surround the current audio sample, producing a uniquely smooth sound at every setting. A special “unity gain threshold”, with boost and cut applied above and below it, provides gain matching by design, so you can change compression or expansion ratios without readjusting the make-up gain. As a four-quadrant processor, dB Smooth handles upward and downward compression and expansion, stays clean without breaking up or distorting even at high ratios, and suits mixing, mastering, film and video post-production, webcasting and podcasting.
