A sampled drum kit for BFD3 with the massive, ambient drum sound of the 80s, recorded with producer Hugh Padgham at Genesis’ studio The Farm.

The kit delivers a fat kick and snare plus the famous “barking toms” in the style of Phil Collins. Sonic Reality recorded it with Hugh Padgham, who has worked with Genesis, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, Sting and The Police among others, in the stone room of Genesis’ studio in Surrey through an SSL console. Padgham selected and placed the mics himself, from Neumann U87s and U47 FETs to Sennheiser MD421s, complemented by room mics compressed with a 1176 and an STC “ball and biscuit” mono room mic. The discrete mic channels, including direct mics on all cymbals, let you mix the sound from dry to ambient.
