A drum kit expansion for BFD3 capturing the sound of Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason, recorded by Alan Parsons through a classic EMI mixing console.

For the first time in 40 years, Nick Mason and engineer Alan Parsons reunited in the studio with producer Dave Kerzner of Sonic Reality to preserve this classic drum sound. Mason’s custom Ludwig “Black Kit”, heard on albums such as The Wall, was sampled through an EMI TG12345, the same console model used to record Dark Side of the Moon in 1973, with the same microphones and miking techniques. Using the individual mic channels, you can mix anything from an upfront, Dark Side style sound to a big rock drum sound with plenty of room and compression, and the kit suits many other musical styles too.
