Conventional EQs are static: fine for broad tone shaping and room resonance correction, but they cannot maintain the timbre of a vocal or instrument as the music changes. SurferEQ tracks the pitch of a monophonic source in real time and adapts the frequencies of its bands relative to the notes being played, preserving the natural harmonic balance. Any of its seven bands can be switched to Surf mode, and via MIDI the EQ even becomes a playable timbre-shaping instrument. Besides high-pass, low-pass, shelf and bell filters, SurferEQ offers a four-mode Harmonic Filter that shapes an instrument’s entire harmonic series with a single band, and its analogue-like asymmetric filters sound natural even when pushed to extremes.
