Tuned and untuned metallic percussion from spent brass artillery shell casings of the WWI and WWII eras, an infantry combat helmet and decommissioned hand grenades.

Artillery shells and military helmets have a long history in modern classical music, for example in the hands of Harry Partch, used both as untuned, anvil-like striking instruments and pitched over a tuned key range. The precision-cast brass casings produce deeply resonant, harmonically rich tones when struck on the sides, edges and base with mallets, hammers, sticks, brushes or bare hands; they were recorded with multiple velocity layers using close, wide and far microphones in a hall and dry in a booth. For version 2.0 the samples were remastered, moved into a four-layer template and expanded with new ambient pads, soundscapes and 20 FX presets.
