Tiny Thumb Pianos captures the gentle, melodic plucked sound of wooden thumb pianos from Zimbabwe – a modern form of the ancient African mbira – as a playable Kontakt instrument.

The sound combines percussive plucking with marimba-like warmth and tonal body. Each tine was recorded in wide stereo, close and dry, played solo and in unison; the duo and solo plucks offer 10 round robins per velocity layer with an average of 8 velocity layers per note. Percussive hits, slides, taps, glisses and effects add realism, while 20 organic ambient soundscapes, 20 FX presets, an LFO, filter, arpeggiator and an FX rack with convolution reverb expand the instrument.
