A 1926 Steinway parlour grand recorded in a long hall in the hills above Oakland, California – suited to classical composition as well as soul, jazz, rock and pop.

The piano has a crisp, solid tone and was recorded in wide stereo from three distances: close from the player’s perspective, at 6 metres and at 30 metres – for custom mixes including surround and varying amounts of room sound. Alongside sustain and release samples, pedal noises at multiple velocities and bench, lid and sheet music sounds, the library offers prepared piano sounds and creative effects such as pounds, slams, string scrapes, mallet and pick glissandi, sweeps and plucks. Three tuned prepared piano sets, body percussion, 10 ambient room tones, 20 FX presets and 34 convolution reverb impulses broaden the sonic range. Piano and hall work together as one instrument, with rich, clear and balanced natural reflections.
