The fragile, bell-like sounds of old incandescent light bulbs as tuned and untuned percussion, sustaining melodic tones and otherworldly effects.

For Luminabells, 40 classic filament bulbs of all shapes and sizes were played with fingers, palms, sticks, mallets, other bulbs and other implements, with special attention paid to vibrating the filament itself without breaking it or the glass. Because these sounds are very quiet, they had to be strongly amplified; the resulting low-frequency rumble and high-frequency hiss were deliberately left in to preserve the most delicate details. Alongside dings, rings, pings, pops and clacks, the library offers 20 ambience patches created from the source and 20 FX and ambient presets. The Kontakt interface with LFO, 12 filters, arpeggiator, key and scale lock, modular FX rack and convolution reverb invites experimentation.
