Small hand-held, air-driven reed instruments – from Indian shruti boxes and a mini accordion to a concertina – brought together in one Kontakt instrument.

Little Pump Reeds brings together hand-crafted traditional Indian shruti boxes, a mini accordion, a 14-note concertina, a two-tone paper squeeze box and the so-called Plastisax, which resembles a child’s plastic soprano saxophone but sounds more like a harmonica. The shruti box is similar in nature and tone to the harmonium and is most commonly used as a drone to accompany voice and solo instruments in Indian classical music, while the concertina was sampled at three dynamic levels with multiple articulations. All instruments are quickly accessible from one interface in a single preset and can be shaped with an LFO, 12 filters, arpeggiator, key and scale lock and a modular FX rack with convolution reverb, plus 20 FX and ambient presets.
