An expressive collection of wooden lamellophones by instrument inventor Bart Hopkin, with playable articulations, multiple mic positions and ambient sounds.

Woodentines brings together three hand-crafted wooden lamellophones by Bart Hopkin with wildly different shapes and mechanics, all sharing the same crisp yet watery wooden essence: the bowl-shaped Bamboo Idiomount with two rows of bamboo tines, the Big Wooden Kalimba with its lush, dreamy tone and deep bass, and the Woodkal with three octaves of thin wooden tongues. A bonus instrument, Piezo Tongues, uses piezoelectric strips to produce dry, brisk pops in distinct musical pitches. Plucks, stick taps, slaps, knocks and glisses were recorded with multiple stereo mic positions and are joined by sound-designed textures, pads and drones.
