An expressively nuanced collection of four metal lamellophones by instrument inventor Bart Hopkin, with a sharp yet richly resonant sound.

Metaltines brings together four metal lamellophones by Bart Hopkin with wildly distinctive shapes and mechanics, all sharing a sharp yet richly resonant metal essence. Mallet K1 and K2 are mallet kalimbas with large, wide metal keys, K1 producing a clangy mix of overtones and K2 a punchy bass plus a direct line signal from its pickup, while Sit or Play is a set of three benches, each with a pair of circular steel tongue drums in the seat, enhanced by the bench tops acting as soundboards and the air beneath them. T-Rod-On-Tine attaches hardened-steel threaded rods to spring-steel tines and produces swirling overtones and bassy resonance depending on how it is played, with various mallets, a rubber band, a pick or a finger. All instruments were recorded with two stereo mic positions and come with knock effects, glisses, ambient effects, pads, drones and 20 effect presets.
