A fretless, acoustic-electric five-string Saz Baglâma from Turkey, deeply sampled with legato slides and per-string playing techniques.

The handmade saz was recorded through a custom pickup array, with bridge and neck pickups sampled separately. All three string courses – low octave, middle and high unison – were captured with 12 round robins and up to 6 velocity layers across one and a half octaves per string, plus palm mutes, choked notes, releases, body impacts and true legato slides with 4 round robins. Hammer-on, pull-off, slide, choke and palm mute are controlled per string; the Strumulator creates one-key strums from 12 chords, the Glissatron and Uberpeggiator deliver glissandi, arpeggios and grooves, and 22 pads and leads made by bowing, eBowing and other methods expand the sonic range.
