A red 1980s Pearl DLX drum kit, handpicked and performed by British instrumentalist and media composer David Oliver.

The Pearl DLX was once played and endorsed by jazz legend Art Blakey, yet its sound suits many genres. This kit was recorded at The Whitehouse Studios in the UK with a range of stick types, from ultra soft to ultra loud: a compact 18-inch kick, 12-inch rack tom, 14-inch floor tom and snares by Mapex and Pearl, plus mostly Zildjian cymbals complemented by Sabian, Paiste and Wuhan, including a 20-inch Sabian crash ride customised by Dave Collingwood in Bristol. Five microphone positions with Blue Dragonfly overheads, Neumann TLM 103 close mics and an M-S front pair let you quickly dial in your own drum sound – for jazz, rock, pop or any genre that calls for realistic drums.
