A fully multisampled 30-string acoustic harp guitar for lead lines, chords, rhythm parts, glissandos and strumming.

The instrument sampled is the “Arpa Viola Caipira”, a harp guitar commissioned by classical guitarist Brad Hoyt and built over four years by UK master luthier Stephen Sedgwick, based on Hoyt’s concept drawings. It combines a 10-string guitar with a 10-string bass harp and a 10-string treble harp, each in five double courses, and delivers a massive, lush tone with a wide range, rich bass and pristine highs. It was recorded up close and dry in wide stereo through a matched pair of large Neumann microphones and Sound Devices preamps, with up to 12 round robins and 7 velocity layers per note. True legato, hammer-ons and pull-offs, real-time string selection, custom tunings and the Strumulator system for chords and auto-strumming make it a truly playable instrument.
