A homemade string instrument built from a 5-gallon plastic bucket, a wooden beam, bass tuners and cello strings, bowed, plucked and played as a drum.

Holes drilled into the bucket let the strings pass through, its bottom wall serves as the bridge, and the strings run up a heavy wooden neck where they are tuned by hand. Bowed, it sounds surprisingly clean yet rich and beefy, with plenty of growl, low end and a clear bite, similar to an electric cello but with a unique rawness and body. Soundiron bowed it, plucked it and struck it with drumsticks in a close, dry setting, including bowed articulations from inside and outside the bucket, and programmed it into a playable bucket band. Lead, pad, drone and FX presets plus atmospheric pads and ambiences made from the source recordings complete the library.
