A deeply sampled collection of 21 hand-crafted Indian Khadki bells in ascending sizes and pitches, from resonant deep notes to brittle high notes.

Hand-crafted from copper and other metals, with carved wooden clappers and in sizes from huge to tiny, the bells have a dark, raspy tone with heavy low and mid-range body, variable sustain and complex overtones and undertones. Each bell was recorded in multiple velocities with plenty of round-robin variation at St Paul’s church in San Francisco, both close and dry in wide stereo and from afar with the ambience of the sanctuary. Mallet, finger, brush and slap articulations, an optional sub-synth module for tonal reinforcement, a step-sequencing arpeggiator and 34 ambient pads and drones created from the source material broaden the sonic palette.
