The Kontakt library featuring the angklung, the traditional tuned bamboo percussion instrument from Indonesia, with 18 notes spanning nearly three octaves.

Dating back to around the 7th century AD, the angklung has spread throughout Southeast Asia and Polynesia and is heard in everything from gamelan orchestras to pop and jazz: it is really a set of single-note instruments, each made of two bamboo tubes tuned an octave apart, producing a full, clear and dry note with a short sustain. Soundiron recorded 18 notes tuned to a major scale, both dry in the studio and in a large hall with three microphone positions, capturing up and down strokes separately with up to 48 round-robin variations per note and velocity. Hand-played sustaining loops at different speeds and intensities are included, along with pads, ambiences and soundscapes designed from the raw bamboo recordings.
