Seven deeply sampled stringed instruments from ancient Greece, from cithara and lyre to pandura and trigonon, as a playable Kontakt library.

Ancient Greek Strings delves into the historic roots of Western musical traditions with the barbiton, cithara, lyre, goat horn lyre, pandura, phorminx and trigonon, faithfully reconstructed from wood, gut and goat skin by master craftsman Panagiotis Stefos in Athens, with their influence on modern harps, guitars and zithers clearly audible. Stefos and his team played each instrument, recorded by producer John Valasis with 8 round robins and 4 dynamic layers per string. Independent close and overhead microphone positions can be blended, alongside chromatic articulations such as finger plucks, picks, mutes and staccato, effects and 20 ambiences designed from the source recordings.
