Six deeply sampled hand percussion instruments from ancient Greece, from crotalum and kymbalon to sistrum and tympanon, as a playable Kontakt library.

Ancient Greek Percussion explores the oldest roots of Western musical traditions with the crotalum, kymbalon, sistrum, 15-inch and 22-inch tympanon and tympanon zill, hand-crafted from wood, gut, goat skin and bronze by master instrument maker and musical historian Panagiotis Stefos in Athens, instruments whose influence has shaped modern frame drums, riqs, dafs, tambourines and finger cymbals. Stefos and his team played each instrument, recorded by producer John Valasis with up to 12 round robins and 10 dynamic layers per articulation. Independent close and overhead microphone positions can be blended freely, alongside chromatic and special effect articulations and 20 ambiences designed from the source recordings.
