An expressive, deeply sampled solo cello with true legato, a wide range of playing techniques and 867 naturally performed melodic phrases.

Hyperion Solo Cello continues Soundiron’s solo string series and covers the full spectrum of classic orchestral cello techniques, with fingered and gliss true legato, 7 long and 17 short note variants, pizzicato, Bartók pizzicato, 12 crescendo, decrescendo and swell expressions, major and minor runs and 68 effect one-shots. Every articulation was sampled chromatically in a dry, intimate space with a close stereo pair of large-diaphragm microphones, and a Performance articulation switches automatically between sustains and short notes as you play. The more than 860 live phrases in 24 keys can be transposed, tempo-synced and combined in real time with a sequencer offering up to 32 steps, independent start, stop and pitch per step and selectable playback direction.
