An experimental gong creation by Bart Hopkin: three and a half octaves of flat aluminium disks with clear pitch and a dreamy, floating tone.

Each disk is hammered at the centre for fine tuning and tone quality; unlike Asian gongs, these flat gongs produce a very clear pitch because their prominent modes are tuned to octave relationships. The largest gong has a diameter of 30 inches and produces a booming C2, while the smallest, just under 7 inches, sounds a G5, with an ethereal, swelling presence. Soft and hard mallet centre strikes, hard mallet edge strikes, knocks, taps, rubs and scrapes in two microphone positions with up to 8 round robins and 8 velocity layers per note are available across four layers, complemented by FX presets and 60 ambient pads and drones created from the source material.
