A sound design library built from cello and double bass harmonics for floating swells, pads and waves of sound in film and game scores and modern arrangements.

Harmonic Tides was created by Soundiron collaborator Pierce Constanti as an expressive scoring tool that is as versatile and nuanced as a typical orchestral string library. One sound source is layered cello harmonic glissandi with a shimmering, airy texture and four dynamic layers per key, the other a sharp, hollow sound produced by bowing the after-length of double bass strings between bridge and tailpiece. Up to eight close-miked solo performances panned around the listener, combined with creative processing, result in a sound that is more pad or drone than orchestra. From this source, the collection expands into leads, pads, short notes, stingers, fluid atmospheres and rich textures.
