A collection of ice and snow effects, playable percussion and pads, synths and soundscapes designed from them, capturing the heart of winter.

For the pond instruments in Icescapes, stones, ice chunks and pebbles were skipped across a large frozen pond in a narrow canyon high in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, where flexural waves in the ice create a strange sci-fi ray gun zing. Further instruments are built from ice block impacts and slides as well as hand and boot Foley recorded in deep fresh snow. The sounds are arranged for percussive playability and work as replacements for kicks, snares and hi-hats or as raw material for sound design. From these sources, Soundiron also crafted 83 playable tones, pads, synthscapes, creative effects and tuned drones.
