At the heart of Retrologue 2 are three VCOs with up to eight detunable voices each, plus a sub oscillator and a noise generator; sync, cross modulation, XOR circuits, pulse width and ring modulation as well as various retrigger modes deliver cutting leads and punchy analogue-style drums. 24 filter types, a 32-step arpeggiator with groove and swing and a 16-stage drag-and-drop modulation matrix shape the sound further, driven by two monophonic and two polyphonic LFOs plus a bipolar envelope. The freely configurable effects rack runs up to six effects at once, including phaser, flanger, chorus, stereo delay, a warm algorithmic reverb and a four-band EQ. The sonic range extends from raw analogue leads and basses to delicate pads, dark drones and aggressive comps.
