The education version of HALion 7 gives students and teachers Steinberg’s sample and synthesis platform for playing, tweaking and crafting their own sounds and instruments.

HALion combines six forms of synthesis – including FM, spectral, wavetable, virtual analogue and granular – with a high-performance sample engine for large libraries, scripting and a time-stretch and resynthesis algorithm. It comes with more than 35 GB of content, 3,700 presets and 15 instruments with their own macro pages, among them FM Lab and the open-tuned guitar Tales, plus more than 70 effects that can be routed freely via buses. A redesigned modulation system with drag and drop, the MediaBay with tag search and a freely arrangeable workspace with savable screen sets make work easier. Developers can use the Lua scripting language to build complex instruments and sample libraries with their own user interfaces.
