BRUTE is a virtual drummer for hard-and-heavy genres from grunge to nu metal – loud, wild, edgy and cutting through the mix.

BRUTE was designed, recorded and processed to compete with layered walls of distorted guitars while maintaining character and detail. To achieve this, three microphone sets were used: a vintage Sennheiser MD21 processed with a Manley Voxbox for the attack transients, vintage tube and ribbon overheads for the gritty character and modern Schoeps microphones for an uncoloured sound. The Smack control emphasises transients, Grit crossfades from clean to dirty, and six mix presets swap entire multi-bus effect chains.
