A model of the rare RS124 valve compressor, an Abbey Road modification of the Altec 436B that shaped Paul McCartney’s bass sound.

Only 25 RS124 units were ever made; they shaped the thick, creamy tone of nearly every Paul McCartney bass line with the Beatles, such as on “Come Together”. Choose the Studio model with faster attack and release for aggressive compression, or the Cutter model with its slower attack for bus compression and mastering. Super Fuse mode matches release time to attack time for brutal compression, for example on the drum bus. Mid-side processing, a sidechain high-pass, high-frequency roll-off and Dry/Mix control add modern mixing capabilities to the original.
