Waves PuigChild Compressor - Download

PuigChild models the rare Fairchild 660 and 670 tube compressors, the pinnacle of 1950s compression technology.

It was modelled under the close supervision of Grammy-winning producer and engineer Jack Joseph Puig, from his own perfectly maintained units. Because compression takes place in the tube audio path itself, PuigChild sounds open and warm, imparts its sweet character even when not compressing and stays natural under heavy compression – ideal for gluing mixes on the stereo bus. Dialled back it gives vocals transparent support, while set aggressively it delivers the pumping drum sound associated with Ringo. It is operated with a 10-step threshold and a 6-step time constant with release times up to 25 seconds; the 670 works as dual mono, linked stereo or mid/side compressor, the 660 as a mono version, and optional 50 or 60 Hz hum and noise floor add authenticity.
