The SSL E-Channel models the channel strip of the legendary SSL 4000 E console, with the famous “black knob” EQ, VCA dynamics and flexible sidechaining.

Solid State Logic’s SL 4000 series was the first console to put dynamics as well as EQ in every channel – and today its sound is in demand again in hip hop and pop. Developed under licence and in close collaboration with SSL, the plugin models the VCA gain element, Class A operation and the original behaviour of filters and dynamics staying in the circuit even at zero settings. The 4-band EQ with the “black knob” developed in 1983 with George Martin sounds bright, bold and present, joined by a soft-knee compressor/limiter and a separate expander/gate that can be placed before or after the filters and EQ, with automatic makeup gain. Filters and EQ can be switched into the sidechain, and over 130 presets by Chris Lord-Alge, Steve Lillywhite, Dave Pensado, Joe Barresi and others cover vocals, drums, guitars, keys and strings.
